Reedorgans -- A forum for serious discussion on reed organs
About Reedorgans	English (USA)
Reedorgans is a discussion list for people interested in exchanging news, views, and information about reed organs (not electronic organs). Its aim is serious debate about any reed organ-related matter, however technical. Postings will be moderated and policy issues determined by a panel comprising, initially, Jim Tyler, Brian Styles and Frans van der Grijn. This is simply to ensure tolerable content and behaviour. Idle chit-chat, banal questions, trivia, jokes, advertising, and one-line messages (e.g. "I agree") are not acceptable on reedorgans. Cross-postings, i.e. identical or similar messages sent to more than one list, are not permitted. Abuse and bad language will not be tolerated. Transgressors may have their posting options limited or their membership cancelled. New members may have their messages moderated for a period. Postings are currently limited in size to 100k bytes. If you have larger stuff which can't be squeezed in, try to put it on a website and post a link. Otherwise, mail reedorgans-owner at cdmnet.org and we can arrange that for you. Reedorgans is both a closed list and a private list. Therefore, subscribers only may post and receive messages and browse the archives. Reedorgans is hosted at cdmnet.org (and supercedes the former RO List hosted there). Reedorgans is run thanks to the generosity of Calum Mackay, who provides all network services.
Using Reedorgans
The e-mail address to which members should send messages for distribution is reedorgans@cdmnet.org Please note: Messages sent to reedorgans should not contain unnecessary text, e.g. a previous message's contents. Quote what's necessary from a previous message but, after your signature, there should be nothing. Unnecessary text occupies space on reedorgans' server and takes up transmission bandwith (to reedorgans and, then, out to hundreds of members - whose "in boxes" it clutters up). Good housekeeping, in terms of e-mail contents, is every user's responsibility. This simple rule is intended to maintain the high standards of "net-iquette" that members rightly expect from a serious forum. Transgressors may have their posting options limited or their membership cancelled. Important: If you reply to a message from reedorgans, your response will be posted to all members. If you wish to send a private reply to someone, you must change the details in the "To:" box of your reply e-mail. If you fail to do so, your private message will be seen by everyone on the list.
Subscribing to Reedorgans

Your details will be reviewed by the list owner or by a moderator and you will be informed, by e-mail, of the decision to either accept or reject your application for membership. If you choose to not enter a password, one will be generated automatically and sent to you by e-mail if your application for membership is accepted. Passwords provide only medium security, but should prevent your subscription details being accessed or altered by unauthorised persons.
